Hello everyone~
I’m Chani who wants to start but dosen’t working out! Exercise has only positive effects on the body and mind (☝︎ ՞ਊ ՞)☝︎ For example, sweat-perspiration from exercise increases immune system by removing waste from the body and psychologically preventing depression, but I don’t do it (=^▽^)σ. I’m so moody that I feel like doing it when I want to! Exercise really only causes in good mental and physical ways, so please try doing moderate exercise!!

This time, it’s about the philosophy of happiness. The presenter is Sam Burns, who has a genetic disease of Progeria (progeria: Hutchinson-Guilford-Progeria syndrome or HGPS, which is a very rare child’s genetic disease that accelerates “aging” and leads to death.) He passed away on January 17, 2014, at the age of 17. He lived to be 17 years old, while many children usually passed away at around 13. Over the course of 17 years, I feel that the “philosophy of happiness” he found is a truly necessary lesson for us. Also, his English pronunciation is good and easy to understand, and there are many words that are as easy to understand as high school students, so please make my article useful for learning English.

So We are going to learn English from Sam Berns’s presentation with the title “My philosophy for a happy life” from TED!

Sam Burns’s philosophy for a happy life

It’s okay with what you ultimately can’t do because there is so much you can do

He has often been asked if Progeria puts pressure on his life. The answer doesn’t include progeria in what he normally thinks. It does not mean that he ignores the obstacles that stand before him, but instead turns his attention to what he can do through his passion. Instead of “can’t” he’s thinking about how he can do it, adjust it, or change the angle.

Surround yourself with people you want to be with, people of high quality

He says he feels very lucky to be surrounded by wonderful families. What’s more, he is really blessed with is his close friends at school, and he’s glad that they’re together. They enjoy each other’s lives and can help each other if necessary. He belongs to a band group with his friends, and he believes that the music they make together is authentic, sincere, and outweighs the existence of progelia. They are connected not by appearance, but by soul, and he wants to have positive impacts on his life and he wants to have positive impacts on their lives.

And he taught us to appreciate and cherish our family, friends and communities, and to love them for ourselves, because they really have positive impacts on our daily lives.

Keep moving forward

He always has something to look forward to and something he can do to enrich his life. It doesn’t have to be a big goal, but it’s good for small things like hanging out with friends or going to support the next high school soccer game. He believes that this kind of thing will help him overcome difficulties by making him feel that there is a bright future without making him think wasteful things. In addition, he tries not to waste his energy, self-pitying, including positive mentalities like this.

He doesn’t ignore it when he’s not feeling good, but rather accept it.By accepting it, he acknowledges it and do what he need to overcome it.

From a small age, he dreamed of making the world a better world and aimed to become an engineer, but after talking with Francis Collins, he began to believe that he could change the world no matter what profession he had in the future. He says making efforts to change the world makes him happy.

A turning point in Sam Burn’s thinking about things

U.S. cable television broadcaster HBO has begun producing a documentary called “Life Accoding to Sam and his family”. That changed his way of thinking about things. He hopes it’s mature to reflect in the future, but some things have not changed during that time. That’s his mentality and view of life. Here’s his view of life.

“I know more about it genetically. So it’s less of an embodiment now. It used to be like this thing that prevents me from doing all this stuff, that causes other kids to die, that causes everybody to be stressed, and now it’s a protein that is abnormal, that weakens the structure of cells. So, and it takes a burden off of me because now I don’t have to think about Progeria as an entity.”

All these philosophies were born in him when he was seriously ill and had to be hospitalized for a few days because of bronchitis. He was isolated from many aspects of his life that became sick and gave him his identity. But he knew he was going to get better, and looking forward to getting better supported his back.

Sometimes it is necessary to be brave, but it is not always easy. Sometimes he feels devastated and depressed. But he realized that being brave is not easy by nature. And he tells us that this is the key to moving forward. He doesn’t waste his energy in self-pity. He keeps moving forward surrounded by people who want to spend time with . With his philosophy, He ended his presentation with the wish that we would live a very happy life regardless of the size of the obstacles.

In the end

Seventeen years may seem like a long time, but 17 years have passed so quickly. He ended his life at the age of 17. He found his own “philosophy of happiness.” The “philosophy of happiness” is very simple and it’s “to have positive relationships.” This is also proven in psychology experiments.

We should have an intuitive understanding of happiness. People make people unhappy, but people make people happy too. I understand that relationships are difficult. Why can’t we have honest heart to know each other? No, we already have that heart. There are no born bad guys. I know each individual has problems, but be kind to them as well as to yourself. Kindness is light and warm. I think that peace will come when it surrounds the world. If you feel unhappy and uneasy, create positive relationships .Nothing happens if you wait. You can accomplish everything by acting. It may sound cruel, but once you get over it, you’ll get what you want.

It’s up to you to live your life. You choose your life. If you want to feel happy, create positive relationships. There’s nothing you can’t do. Let’s be nice for others. I’ll do my best too, so let’s all do our best together! ٩( ‘ω’ )و then, Bye bye (@^^)/~~~
