7 Tips to improve GPA

Hello, everyone. My name is Leon. I am going to give a presentation about 7 Tips to improve GPA. And I will provide “question and answer time.” So, please ask questions after finishing this presentation.

The reason why I selected this theme is that I thought that I could teach my tips to improve GPA. Taking a high GPA requires a lot of works, especially for international students. I am also an international student, but I keep my GPA relatively high. This is because I have my tips to improve my GPA. So, I want to teach the tips on how I got a high GPA this time.

This is the outline. First, I am going to show my GPA. Second, I am going to introduce seven tips to improve GPA. Lastly, I am going to summarize the seven tips.

Here is my GPA. My GPA is 3.97. It is relatively high, isn’t it? When I was a freshman, my grade ranged around 3.6. But, when I became a sophomore, I got 4.15 for the first time. Then, I keep taking grades of more than 4.0 until now. When I was a freshman, I analyzed exemplary students with excellent grades. Then, I found out some secrets about how they took high grades. Then, I made seven tips based on the information.

So, these are the seven tips. I am going to explain them in detail.

Tip one is having motivation for learning academics. This is the most fundamental factor to improve GPA. Have you ever heard of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation? To put it simply, intrinsic motivation means you do something because you want to do that. Extrinsic motivation means you do something because you have to do that. Intrinsic motivation is much better than extrinsic motivation because this motivates us to do something spontaneously.

Tip two is forming connections with professors. We should build positive relationships with professors to give positive impressions. There are three reasons why forming positive connections is important.

The first is this might affect when professors give your score. Professors also are humans. So, they receive influences from the impression inevitably.

Second, you might get exam information easily. I am going to explain this in detail in the next chapter.

Third, human relationship is one of the factors to be successful in the world. Successful work depends on human relationships, not technological factors, actually. So, we should practice forming positive connections for both taking a high GPA and working successfully for the future.

Tip three is asking questions a lot about exams. This means we should get detailed information about exams by asking questions in person. This is because professors might say information inadvertently. To get more information, building positive connections beforehand might enhance this strategy.

Anyway, what I want to say is to be aggressive because just hearing the range of exams is not enough to take a high GPA.

Tip four is sleeping more than 8 hours. This is because we should be in perfect condition to maximize the efficiency of learning. It is meaningless if you cannot concentrate on the class due to the lack of sleep, isn’t it? Sleeping has two functions mainly. Memorizing memories and adjusting the brain and body conditions. So, sleeping is a vital process for us. If I were asked to select sleeping 8 hours and studying 4 hours, or sleeping 6 hours and studying 6 hours, I would choose the former, sleeping 8 hours and studying 4 hours to get into top shape.

I also want to mention that studying is not how many hours we learn, but how efficiently we learn.

Tip five is making friends who study together. This is optional. So, you can learn alone if you do not like studying together. But, learning efficiency will boost by teaching what did we learn for people rather than learning alone. Besides, the content what you taught will be a long-term memory. So, if you want to hold memories for a long time, I recommend making a friend who studies together.

Tip six is reviewing what you learned. This means that reviewing makes us easy to memorize and remember. So, if you make and repeat this habit, you will have good memory retention. So, I suggest that you form a habit to review what you have learned because habits shape you. If you start to excise and repeat the activity, your body will become slim and healthy. It is the same thing with learning. If you review a lot, you will have good memories, and get a high GPA.

Tip seven is attending all classes and doing all assignments. Do you know this proverb? “Look after the pennies, and the pennies will look after the pounds” this is from Old British, and to state simply, this means “small things make a big difference.” To rephrase this, Attending all classes and doing all assignments make a high GPA. I do not say this is all because you have to receive exams and take high points. What I want to say is that 50% of the GPA will be decided by attending all classes and by doing all assignments. So, it is really important to do them diligently.

This is a summary of seven tips. I put together the contents into three parts. The first is human relationships. We should make friends who study together and form connections with professors. The second is learning habits. We should ask questions a lot about exams and review what you learned, and sleep more than 8 hours. The last is making efforts. We should have motivation for learning and attend all classes, and do all assignments. So, these are my seven tips to keep a relatively high GPA. If you imitate these tips, your GPA might increase. So, please refer to my tips.

Then, I will finish my presentation. Thanks for listening. If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
